Five years ago, Frau Cotis, a German teacher at Old Bridge High School, created the amazing German Exchange Program. This program enables Old Bridge High School students studying German to host a German student for two weeks and, thereafter, study abroad in Germany for the same duration. This program enlightens students by providing a spectacular global educational experience. I am presently a senior and was lucky enough to participate in this fantastic program for two consecutive years.

Last year was my first time taking part in the German Exchange Program. Needless to say, I surely fell in love with it. It was so interesting to be able to host a student from across the world and teach them about American culture. One of my most favorite moments was bringing my exchange partner, Patrick Zuralski, in my junior year, to school and watching how interested he was in the subjects that I was learning. In turn, Patrick and his family showed me a wonderful time when I went over to Duisburg, Germany, in April of 2016. I'll never forget the fun times I had with him and his family.

In October of this year, I was one of 24 Old Bridge High School students lucky enough to take part in the German Exchange Program. I have never seen a group of students come together in such harmony. Together, we had so many fun times in New York and many other exciting adventures. My German Exchange partner this year, Leon Wiederhold, and I were so close. A special thanks go out to Frau Schmitz for running the program this year and to Frau Cotis for making this unbelievable experience possible for the past five years. Thank you, also, to Mr. Cittadino, Mrs. Keiller, and all in administration for supporting this special program. I look forward to traveling to Duisburg, Germany, in April. The memories we all have from this exchange are absolutely priceless and will last a lifetime!!!
